CBCT (Core Balance Current Transformer) is used to detect earth leakage / residual current in electrical systems. It works by passing all phase conductors (and neutral, if present) through a single magnetic core. Under normal conditions, currents balance to zero. Any leakage to earth creates an imbalance, which the CBCT detects and sends to a relay or protection device for tripping or alarm.
